Guatemalans infected with syphilis to benefit US drug testing in the 1950’s

This story might be from The Onion except there isn’t an iota of humor in it.

It would appear that The Rockefeller Foundation, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Johns Hopkins, and US aid groups conspire to infect Guatemalans with syphilis to test penicillin. It’s a conspiracy theorist’s dream. Secretary Clinton apologized in 2010 for this revelation but the courts ruled in 2012 that there is no liability for actions outside the US.

Couldn’t possibly happen in a country that did the same to the Tuskegee Airmen and the Cherokees?

(your incredulity is deafening)

America!! Love it or leave it, right?  Or maybe we should love it and improve it?  I don’t know if this story is true but is there anyone even denying it?

Welcome to the fear and loathing of the Medical-Industrial Complex is a topic in my book and this blog on anti-vaxxers

Unless and until the notion of “The Other” is questioned in our hearts, it will never be questioned in our politics and our actions. At one time, men of power considered non-American (or non-heterosexual, male, Protestant, affluent) souls to be less valuable. Have we really moved past that yet? Isn’t it time to imagine a world where all lives matter or are we still children of a father who would sacrifice us to his personal and very angry trickster god?

If you love America, fight less for flags and party affiliations. Fight for the brilliant idea of America that is embodied in truth, justice, and the Consitution.

Good people will always outnumber the sociopaths yet good people can also be lazy and overly obedient.
