Telomeres extended by simple trick at Stanford lab
For #ScienceSunday, we turn to a recent article published online showing that a modified mRNA version of the telomerase protein (TERT) can extend the telomeres in a dose-dependent fashion. This method has the advantage of not being permanent, as with gene therapy.

Welcome to the machine?
There is no firewall or proxy that will ever protect us from ourselves because our consciousness is based on the emergent properties of trillions of cells and neuro-endocrine networks resonating along with god-knows-what. We need LESS computational power with fewer connections until we can master two contradictory ideas:
1) There is no truth that is not arbitrary and subjective
2) Truth and ethics must be driven by consistency and largely independent of agenda
Dr. Stephen Colbert, DFA, interviews the man who cured aging! (…and I interview his protégé)
In this first segment, Dr. Chang explains that we really don’t know what the normal human birth endowment of telomere length is and we then discuss why lab mice have abnormally long telomeres and are therefore not a good model to study our aging.
Obama’s approval rating at 46%, mine is 84%!!
You can keep your own score, but in my insignificant opinion, POTUS gets 4 out of 10 and a 40% grade is probably an “F”, unless we grade on a Harvard grade-inflation curve against other current POTUSes, in which case he might be worthy of a third term with an “A”.
