Veteran’s Day – our GI’s were exposed to mustard gas in the Gulf War

Today is #MondayMusings and Veteran’s Day. Although this is not a political posting, we should check ourselves for logical and moral consistency. You and I ultimately bear responsible for the actions of our nations so I simply wish to point out some recent facts that came to light in the NYT about the presence of WMD in Iraq. How some pundits are using this as a “We told you so” is still a difficult leap for me to make.

Things fall apart: FACEBOOK and signs of the coming apocalypse (October 30th, year of our lord 2014)

This election day, we fractally revisit similar tests from the creator (which, is, in a way, ourselves). We must ask ourselves, why am I voting this way and has someone placed the “Fear of God” into me to manipulate my vote?

World’s Richest Man predicts 3-day workweek – (Poorer billionaires predict an apocalypse)

Last night, I was helping my 11-yo son with his history assignment: a comic, showing the evolution of mankind from the stone age, to the neolithic, to the modern industrial phase. In Oliver’s last panel, his Homo sapiens sapiens concluded that the efficiencies of a mechanized world allowed them to enjoy being human.

This morning, I was pleased to find a similar sentiment from none less that Carlos Slim, the world’s richest man.

Look forward to going back! (or the more things change, the LESS they stay the same)

at 47 years of age, my new Vespa is much cooler than the old one and now I appreciate it more. Likewise, 75-yo Karl was voted MVP for pitching two winning games and hitting .597 at the Cincinnati Reds’ Fantasy Baseball camp appreciates his performance more.

My prophecies for the 50th College reunion

In 2014, it makes many of us sad to realize that our species as a whole, and we as individuals, have been inculcated with structure and meaning as defined by the things we are taught to fear: fear of death, aging, illness, poverty, being unloved, being irrelevant…

The greatest shifts in the human condition won’t be complete until our 75th anniversary in 2089 but surprisingly, most of us will be attending that one in good health at the age of 97!
