For some time, I have been studying exosomes and their effects. This is relatively new field although many studies have emerged in the last few years. It is now clearer that extracellular vesicles (aka exosomes) they are the primary method of communication between stem cells the other cells of the body. When you have a problem stem cells produce exosomes to help resolve whatever infection, malignancy, dysregulaton, or degeneration is occurring.
Ironically, this is a paradigm shift that should have been obvious for a lot of reasons, but like most paradigm shifts, it was not recognized. These were the clues which we held as axiomatic that should have tipped us off:
1.) In high school biology, they have taught that the Golgi apparatus packages proteins into vesicles.
2.) The proteins and RNA that modulate cell behavior can’t survive in the blood stream long without protection.
3.) Young blood transfusions, old-young parabiosis experiments (sewing young and old animals together), platelet-rich plasma, and stem cells transfusions, all had benefits which are dependent on whatever was present the serum
4.) Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are the quarterbacks of healing and regeneration but their effects didn’t depend upon engraftment (or taking root and becoming part of the host)
The upshot is that the MSCs are communicating, controlling, and reprograming other cells, via these tiny spheres of RNA and proteins that travel in the bloodstream and bind to the target cells.
Very few things in anti-aging get my full-throated credence but in this case, seeing was believing. A few days ago, my own 82-yo mother was brave enough to allow me to give her exosome therapy intranasally and intravenously; the results were astonishing. The cost is high because of the difficulty in maintaining and harvesting the exosomes but not since the early days of TA-65 have I felt that there was a game-changing intervention like this with the safety and efficacy required.
